First and why would you want to be a Sen for that long? |

This is just where the NHL is these days. Is Bobby Ryan worth more than $7million a year? Not really.
Will he get more than $7million a year on the open market? Unless he decides he wants to take less to play on a better team or he really wants to live somewhere in particular (like Vanek in Minnesota), you betcha. |

Maybe he just wants to leave Ott. I think he'd take $6.5 to go to an up and coming team or a good team. Ott may face dark days soon |

When Snow made Vanek a 7-year, $51 million offer, the former 40 goal scorer passed on the offer and was then traded tro the Montreal Canadiens for a coupl of prospects
Traded for Collberg + 2nd pick in 2014 |

To be fair to Ryan, he was under used.
Coach MacLean had his 4th line scrubs playing almost as many mins as Ryan last year.
Ryan also was never on the 1st pp unit. It was generally Spezza, Turris, Macarthur, Karlsson, (revolving door of Dmen).
McLean shot himself and the team in the foot last season with his deployment of Ryan.
The whole reason why he left Anaheim was to be a top line guy. Ryan shouldn't have got the 5th most mins/game of the Sens forward group.
With all that said, his comments sure seem like he's avoiding resigning. If they don't get something done by Christmas, I say trade his ass. |

Better hope he does not have a season like Vanek or he will be leaving lots of money on the table. |

Ryan's career high is 35 goals (in 81 games). Maybe he hits 40 once or twice in his career, but bona fide 40 goal scorer seems a bit premature |
